The Committee on International Affairs believes that US military activity in Syria destabilizes the situation in the region

Member of the Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zhelezniak also said that the actions of the US military in Syria look like an attempt to provoke a new round of military conflict, to root in the country and create own US center of influence in it

The Pentagon is preparing to deploy a missile defense system in some Syrian cities in the northern part of the country, the Turkish YeniSafak reported earlier, citing the former commander of the military assembly of the Syrian province of Deir Ez-Zor Fayez Al Esmera.

“US military activity in Syria, the deployment of radar systems in several cities of the country, as well as the intention to deploy air defense systems are not agreed with official Damascus and destabilize the situation in the region. The actions of American hawks look like an attempt to provoke a new round of military conflict, root in Syria and create an American center of influence in this country,” Zhelezniak's press service quotes him.

According to the politician, against this background, the subversive activities of the White Helmets in Syria and their attempts to supply terrorists with chemical weapons “are becoming more and more evident and are giving out authors of provocation”.

”Analysis of the situation in Syria provides a clear picture of the upcoming action aimed at undermining the current state regime and disrupting peace negotiations with the opposition. This, in particular, looks like an intention to discredit the activities of Russia and our allies in Syria to resolve the situation,“ the parliamentary believes.

Zhelezniak believes that the destructive steps of the United States in the Middle East region “require close attention of international organizations, primarily the UN”. ‘The global community shall make all necessary efforts to prevent a possible attack on sovereign Syria under another fictitious ground that will put the humanitarian situation in the country on the brink of catastrophe,’ he concluded.
