The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
posted on his Telegram channel about the current discussion on the issue of making payments
for Russian natural gas supplies in rubles.
“First of all, the G7 countries did not agree with the requirement to pay for energy supplies in our currency. Then Macron said that “it is impossible for European countries to do that”. And today there are media reports that gas supplies through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline have been completely halted,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin is convinced that European politicians should “stop talking and stop looking for excuses not to pay in rubles,” because “they should have thought about that before”.
The Chairman of the State Duma also stressed that were the European states that had undermined the confidence in the dollar and euro, so that Russia would refuse mutual payments in those currencies.
Vyacheslav Volodin also supported the decision of the Russian President to demand ruble payments for gas. He added that members of the State Duma also supported such approach.
“European states have all the market opportunities to pay in rubles. There is no great tragedy. The situation is much worse when there is money, but there are no goods. Cooperation should be mutually beneficial,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
He noted the difficult natural climatic conditions of gas production, as “that is the hardest work”.
“If you want to receive gas, you should find rubles. There is no other way,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
Moreover, in his opinion, it would be right, if it benefited our country, to expand the list of goods supplies for rubles: fertilizers, grain, oil, coal, metals, wood, etc.
“In this regard, I appeal to colleagues representing the national parliaments of unfriendly countries, to take the issue of ruble mutual payments more seriously. By using sanctions policy, trying to isolate us, you are now isolated. You have to be responsible for those decisions you make,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
