held a meeting
with the President of the Chamber of Senators of the National Congress of Paraguay Silvio Adalberto Ovelar Benítez on the sidelines of the First International
Parliamentary Conference “Russia — Latin America”.
“We do not discuss alliances, unions to be against someone. We discuss issues of development of relations, but, of course, we talk about the need not to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states, because only sovereign states have prospects, can plan their future and development,” said Vyacheslav Volodin, opening the meeting.
Russia builds relations with other states on the principles of respect and mutually beneficial cooperation, according to him.
“We appreciate your independent position,” said the Chairman of the State Duma to the President of the Chamber of Senators of the National Congress of Paraguay. “We are convinced that every country has the right to development. There is no need to dance to someone else's tune. The world must be multipolar, and we stand for a just world order,” he added.
According to him, the development of the parliamentary dimension and new formats of cooperation between states is important.
The Chairman of the State Duma also noted the growing interest of students from Paraguay in studying in Russia. “If we talk about the results of 2022 and 2023, there are five Paraguayan citizens per quota who want to study in Russia,” he said.
“The best ambassadors are our students, because we see that they are in demand here. They bring us the knowledge and qualifications that they receive in Russia,” said the President of the Chamber of Senators of the National Congress of Paraguay.
Silvio Adalberto Ovelar Benítez thanked the Chairman of the State Duma for the invitation to the take part in the First International Parliamentary Conference “Russia — Latin America”.
The foreign parliamentarians also expressed their personal gratitude and gratitude of the country’s president as Russia was the first state send the COVID-19 vaccines to Paraguay.
