at a joint meeting of the Council of the Assembly and the 16th CSTO PA plenary session.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the agenda of the meeting included a statement of the CSTO PA Council on the possible consequences of using depleted uranium ammunition.
“Washington used similar shells in Yugoslavia and Iraq, and it led to contamination of terrain and to a sharp increase in the number of cases of cancer diseases among people. The use of such ammunition is a criminal act. Western parliamentarians should think about the consequences of supplies of ammunition with depleted uranium,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
A joint meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the 16th CSTO PA plenary session are being held in Moscow. Parliamentarians are discussing issues of harmonizing the legislation of member states of the Organization, as well as preparing model laws and recommendations to counter challenges and threats to security in the CSTO area of responsibility.
