The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
met with the Chairman of the Consultative Assembly
(Parliament) of Saudi Arabia Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh in Riyadh.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the contribution “of leaders of the two states to the development of relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia”. “For our part, we should do everything possible to provide legislative support to the decisions reached at the level of heads of states – King of Saudi Arabia and President of the Russian Federation,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The trade turnover between our states is increasing. It should also be noted that we are actively enhancing humanitarian cooperation. That is why it is important for us to make our work more systematic,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
“This is a historic visit for the Consultative Assembly and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We pay great importance and serious attention to our cooperation with the Russian Federation and we note the positive dynamics in the development of relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation, especially in light of the agreements reached between the King of Saudi Arabia and the President of the Russian Federation,” stressed Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh.
The Chairman of the State Duma is convinced that an important aspect of the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue should include new formats of cooperation.
Vyacheslav Volodin invited the parliamentarians from Saudi Arabia to visit Russia in 2024. “We have discussed the issue of signing an agreement between the State Duma and the Consultative Assembly. It would be right to do this during your reciprocal visit to Russia,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
He proposed to ask the Deputy Chairmen of the State Duma and the Consultative Assembly to prepare a plan for joint parliamentary work. Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh supported the proposal.
During the visit to the Consultative Assembly, the Chairman and the delegation of the State Duma were also greeted at the session of the Parliament of the Kingdom.
