held a meeting with
the President of the National Assembly of the Central African Republic Simplice
Mathieu Sarandji. The delegation of the Parliament of the Central African
Republic came to Russia to observe the presidential elections. Vyacheslav
Volodin expressed gratitude to the parliamentarians from the Central African
Republic for their interest in the elections of the head of the state.
“The interest in the presidential elections is enormous: there are 475 parliamentary observers and experts representing 89 states, three chairmen of parliaments, and representatives of six international organizations,” he said.
“It is very important for us that the elections should be competitive, open, and legitimate. And of course, the role of international observers is also very important. We proceed from the fact that national legislation should be the basis for any election campaign,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
Simplice Mathieu Sarandji said that the participation of international observers in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation “will prove their transparency and that these elections will be credible.” The President of the National Assembly of the Central African Republic said that he and his colleagues had already visited several polling stations: “Everything is great there. We have seen how actively people voted during these elections and that proves their success.”
He expressed confidence that the presidential elections would determine the future of Russia. “As your friends, we want to support Russia,” added Simplice Mathieu Sarandji.
The Chairman of the State Duma and the President of the National Assembly of the Central African Republic also discussed issues of the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russia and the Central African Republic. Vyacheslav Volodin invited Simplice Mathieu Sarandji to take part in the International Conference “Development of Parliamentarism”, which will be held in Moscow. The President of the National Assembly of the Central African Republic accepted the invitation and also invited the Russian delegation to pay a visit to Bangui.
