The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the Speaker
of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti Dileita Mohamed Dileita at the State Duma.
The issues of strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the parliaments of Russia and Djibouti, as well as the further development of relations with the countries of the African continent, were discussed at the meeting.
“Development of contacts with African countries is one of our foreign policy priorities,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin. He also noted that these relations “are built on the principles of friendship, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states, the absence of double standards and mutually beneficial cooperation”.
“In the declaration of the second Russia-Africa summit held in 2023, our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, as well as the leaders of all African countries, set the task to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation. This imposes many responsibilities on us,” said the Chairman of the State Duma. “We should do everything to provide all the necessary legislative support to implement the agreements reached at the level of heads of states,” he added.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, the meeting held today would give a new impetus to the development of relations between the State Duma and the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti at all levels. “It is important to make our cooperation more systemic, and to find new forms of cooperation, and make our own contribution to the development of relations between the states within the parliamentary dimension,” he emphasized.
“We came here not only to strengthen the relations between the State Duma and the National Assembly, but also to enhance cooperation between our two states in general,” Dileita Mohamed Dileita said following the meeting.
Vyacheslav Volodin invited Dileita Mohamed Dileita and the delegation of the parliamentarians from Djibouti to take part in the International Conference “Development of Parliamentarism”, which will be held this summer in Moscow.
The Speaker of the National Assembly thanked Vyacheslav Volodin and said that the delegation of Djibouti would definitely attend the Conference. He also invited the delegation of the State Duma to pay a visit to Djibouti.
