”It would be right, especially for politicians who take on the responsibility and courage to promote today's decision, as well as to talk about building relations or about the past, to rely on the truth and nothing but the truth. Because the truth will find its way out anyway, but then we will be ashamed of the years that led to the cooling of relations and, most importantly, to the problems that the German people are experiencing today,“ said Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

, responding to a question from VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, German politicians should be asked what happened to them and why they forgot the history of their country and the role of the Soviet Union in liberating Germany and the whole world from Nazism.

Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that the appeal to the President of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, was supported by all factions of the State Duma. “Russia has not taken a single unfriendly step towards Germany,” he added. Relations with Russia, including in the economic sphere, were primarily beneficial to Germany, which today is facing recession and problems, Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized. “This can only be interpreted as ineffective policy and mistakes on the part of the ruling class,” he added, referring to the current German leadership.

The Chairman of the State Duma doubted whether German politicians would listen to what not only their voters were saying, but also Russia, which had been Germany's partner in the past and had done everything to ensure that the German economy flourished. Vyacheslav Volodin noted that German politicians today have done everything to consign relations with Russia to oblivion.

”But when it comes to historical truth, we cannot allow ourselves to remain silent, because the lives of millions of our citizens were sacrificed to liberate the world from Nazism. And those who have come to power today are either starting to support Nazism again or are simply wandering in the dark,“ Vyacheslav Volodin is convinced.

According to him, in order for everything to return to normal, dialogue and relations based on mutually beneficial conditions, mutual respect, the absence of double standards, and non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states are needed. This is the basis of Russia's foreign policy, added the Chairman of the State Duma.

”Let's wait and see what happens. We proceed from the assumption that we relied on previous relations and our history when talking to our colleagues in the German parliament, so that they would reconsider their position and do everything possible to ensure that the world is not shaken by the cataclysms and tragedies of the past. As for the past, it must always be analyzed and conclusions drawn,“ concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
