The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
regarding the statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the outcome of World War II is political stupidity, said Matthias Mösdorf, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, a member of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy, told Deutschland Kurier.

“The response came from Julia Klöckner, and she unfortunately used it in a very remarkable way — politically, one-sidedly, weaving it into the current debate,” the deputy said. “What Julia Klöckner is doing now can perhaps be summed up in one word — and it is not easy for me to say this — but with regard to all parties, I have to say: this is the penetration of political stupidity into foreign policy” (quoted by TASS).

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma sent an appeal to the President of the German Bundestag in connection with the statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during talks with US President Donald Trump on June 5. Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, Friedrich Merz recalled the anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy in 1944 and the role of the Americans in this operation, but did not mention the decisive contribution of the Soviet people to the victory.

“For many decades after World War II, our countries have done a lot to not only heal the wounds of war, but also to build mutually beneficial, friendly relations between the Russian and German peoples,” Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized in his response.

“We know that there are many people in Germany who sincerely want to develop relations with Russia. For our part, we have always sincerely sought to do so and have not taken a single step against Germany's interests. I emphasize: not a single one,” Vyacheslav Volodin also noted.
