The State Duma ratified the agreement on the fundamentals of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Mali

On Tuesday, December 16, the State Duma ratified the Agreement on the Fundamentals of Relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Mali which was submitted by the President of Russia.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on June 23, 2025. The document provides for the development of relations on the principles of respect for and adherence to their national interests, as well as the generally recognized principles and norms of international law, and in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. The parties will maintain regular dialogue and exchange of views at various levels on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The document reflects the parties' intentions to cooperate on issues of arms control, demilitarization, non-proliferation, and international security, as well as to support international efforts to facilitate the functioning of nuclear-weapon-free zones and the creation of new ones — free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.

In addition, the State Duma ratified the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Mozambique on Extradition signed in St. Petersburg on May 20, 2025. Each party agrees to extradite individuals wanted for criminal offenses to the other party upon request and in accordance with the provisions of the agreement.

The interim trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states and Mongolia was also ratified, its signatories commit to liberalizing mutual trade.

Furthermore, members of parliament voted for ratification of an agreement with UNESCO and the International Competence Centre for Mining Engineering Education on renewal of the Centre's status.
