held a meeting with the delegation of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) headed by its President Rolando Miguel González Patricio (representative of the Republic
of Cuba).
The meeting participants exchanged information and their views on the current state of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and PARLATINO.
Ivan Melnikov and Rolando Miguel González discussed the issue of overcoming the existing challenges faced the inter-parliamentary cooperation in the current destabilizing international situation. They also favored using the full potential of international cooperation at the parliamentary level in the interests of peace and progress.
“We consider the inter-parliamentary ties as the most important supportive part to the efforts of governments aimed at strengthening the practical cooperation between Russia and Latin American states. In this regard, we express our willingness to continue our fruitful dialogue with PARLATINO on a regular basis and at other multilateral parliamentary platforms,” emphasized Ivan Melnikov.
