Issues related to the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue between Russia and the DPRK, as well as new formats of cooperation, were discussed at the meeting.
“In the conditions of the constantly growing challenges and threats, Russia and the DPRK continue strengthening cooperation based on the principles of good-neighborliness, trust, fraternal support. We rely on our traditions that were created by previous generations,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
According to him, Russia-DPRK relations “are developing dynamically due to the great contribution of our leaders – the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un.” “We, for our part, should do everything possible at the legislative level to implement effectively the agreements reached between the heads of states,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The further enhancing of allied relations between our countries that are an invaluable asset of both nations, in accordance with the noble intension of the leaders of our two countries, is our unwavering position. Contacts and cooperation at various levels are intensifying, including reciprocal visits by high-level delegations of friendly parliamentarians,” emphasized the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.
The Chairman of the State Duma expressed gratitude to the Korean side for the opportunity to visit the Republic and pay tribute to the courage and bravery of Korean soldiers who took part in the liberation operation in the Kursk region. “We are grateful to the people of Korea, comrade Kim Jong-un for all the assistance in our fight against neo-Nazi invaders. We will cherish the memory of heroism and courage of the Korean soldiers and officers,” he stressed.
According to Jo Yong-won, the participation of a high-level delegation from Russia in the opening ceremony of the Memorial Complex and the Museum of the Military Deeds of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation “is a sign of a sincere support and respect of Russian people to our people”.
“The proud sons of our two countries won a decisive victory and thus demonstrated the power and strength of the alliance between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation to the history and the whole world,” said Jo Yong-won. “The Memorial Museum of the Military Deeds of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation which we will open tomorrow will shine brightly not only as a sacred temple commemorating the lives of true patriots, but also as a historical monument demonstrating the blood-allied ties between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation,” he added.
Vyacheslav Volodin congratulated Jo Yong-won on his election as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and invited him to pay an official visit to Russia.
Vyacheslav Volodin is paying a working visit to the DPRK. On April 26, on behalf of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, he will take part in the opening ceremony of the Memorial Complex and the Museum of the Military Deeds of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation in Pyongyang. It is dedicated to the bravery of the Korean soldiers who took part in the operation and helped liberate the Kursk region from neo-Nazis.
