Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Elected in a single mandate electoral district № 164 – Saratov district, Saratov Oblast)
met with the delegation of the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress of the People's Republic of China on the sidelines of the 12th
International BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
“Russia-China cooperation has reached the highest level in its history and has the nature of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation and is entering a new era,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
He noted the fact that under the leadership of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, there has been created a unique model of cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, taking into account the national interests, absence of double standards. “The regular contacts of leaders of our states show special nature of our bilateral political dialogue at the highest level,” added the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the effectiveness of current bilateral formats of cooperation, including, the inter-parliamentary commission, joint parliamentary working groups and close interaction at the level of the relevant committees.
“China and Russia are great powers. We demonstrate a good example of building comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. In recent years under the guidance of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, our friendly relations have deepened and enhanced in various fields,” said the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zheng Jianbang.
Vyacheslav Volodin is paying his first foreign visit as Chairman of the State Duma of new convocation to India where he participates in the 12th International BRICS Parliamentary Forum. This year, it is held in the capital of India under India’s chairmanship in 2026. The main topic of the Forum is “Strengthening of parliaments for people-centric development”. Earlier, Vyacheslav Volodin met with his colleagues from India, UAE, Uganda, Cuba and Thailand.
